GLEAN is a book-in-process. After 5 years of thinking about where to start
and what to write, it all coalesced about 4 months ago into the outline of this
book. Gaining the experience to write
this book has been a journey.
Writing the book is a different journey.
I am looking forward to the months ahead as ideas turn into words. Which in turn will lead to the discovery of
more ideas.
As I write, draft sections of the book will be posted to this blog. Two reasons.
One is produce value early and often.
Nine years ago, I was able to increase my knowledge of Lean from the
drafts of a book-in-process posted online by Marry Poppendieck. Perhaps others can benefit today from these
postings today.
The second reason is to gain feedback on what has been written. Writing is a solitary process. Ideas are not. Ideas only matter if they can be effectively
communicated to others in a manner that enables them to connect with the idea
so it spurs additional thought or action.
Without feedback a writer cannot tell if this connection occurs.
